I started making hip-hop music in 2019, beginning with writing lyrics in my phone’s notes app and recording with a $5 microphone, occasionally give pop-up performances in the school lobby corner. What started as something small and personal gradually grew into something more serious. Later, I stepped into a real studio for the first time and recorded my first collaboration with a like-minded upperclassman I met at school. At that stage, I was mostly creating traditional boom bap.
As I kept writing and recording, my demos began to build up, and so did my sense of direction. In 2020, I had my first live house performance at a Christmas show that came together almost by chance. That night became a turning point. I met Loop, a mentor who had a major impact on my music journey, along with a group of artists who shared the same passion. Through them, I started performing more regularly, from small shows to larger stages, and stayed consistent through 2022. During this period, I also began experimenting with different styles from trap to melodic rap.
Just as things felt like they were building momentum, the pandemic hit. I could no longer access the studio, and every live performance came to a complete stop. Around the same time, I was preparing to move to Miami for school, which naturally slowed everything down. After releasing my EP MoPill, I paused for almost three years. But this year, I’ve found the courage to return to music again whith what feels more aligned with my experiences and who I am now. Miami's Latin American cultural inspired me to start creating Chinese Reggaeton—a territory that few people have explored yet.
